Hill-Stead Museum

The Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington, CT is a hidden gem with priceless treasures by Monet, Degas, Manet, Whistler, Cassatt, and many others. My daughter and I took a tour of the home and the separate gallery today. Here are some of the equines, plus one bonus Monet.

Jockeys by Edgar Degas, 1886
reproduction of oil on canvas
the original was sold from the collection

Fell in love with the face on this charming little sculpture.
Reminded me of Maureen Love's Arabians, but this is likely much earlier.
I know nothing about it, and this is a terrible photo...

I have always been a huge Monet fan. This one, Oat & Poppy Field, 1890, is on loan from a private collection. We were told that the public would likely never get a chance to see it again, what a treat to see it today! Love the light and the texture and the colors and the depth and the movement and the stillness and everything about it.

Collection of Netsuke

This little netsuke was an adorable grouping of animals with a horse centered in the composition.

Spotlight: Anastasia Zheved, Ukrainian Tack Artist

I saw a sales post for this lovely bridle at an affordable price by an artist I was not familiar so decided to take a chance. I am so glad I did! Anastasia's leatherwork is very fine and supple. If you are not familiar with her work, you can look her up on Facebook or find her on Instagram under Alazur Studio. She has posted sales pieces occasionally on various Facebook groups. She was very pleasant to work with, and even included all these extra goodies in the package. Shipping time from Ukraine was not unreasonable either. It only took about a month to arrive, and this was during the holidays. Thank you, Anastasia, for this lovely bridle and the extras!

New Year, New Website

Happy New Year!

With an unfortunate change in plans for the holiday break came an opportunity to update the Feldman Studio website. It's been on the to-do list for a long while and I'm so excited to finally offer sales directly from the website! My very first site was completely hand-coded with HTML. The next iteration used a free website builder with very few options. This new site is built with Wordpress, which allows much more flexibility and a storefront option. I really like the filterable galleries with no cropping of the pictures in the gallery view. There is more content than before and it will be easy to add additional photos and mix things up occasionally. Pretty pleased to roll this out for 2023. Happy New Year everyone!
