Bill Wright Vardo Gypsy Wagon at Wagon Land Adventure As with many of the vehicles that Eli has saved, this one needs restoring. |
The US West is well known for its pioneer heritage and Conestoga wagons. I was totally not expecting to find one, let alone two Vardo Wagons in the Wagon Land Adventure collection. After reading the description in the image below, I learned that these wagons are pretty uncommon in general as it was custom to burn them and other belongings upon the owner's death.
I have seen pictures of scale models, and oh is it tempting! There is even a spiralbound book titled "Making Model Gyspy Caravans," though now out of print, that walks you through building one. So, so tempting, but I have so, so many projects... Maybe these pictures will inspire one of you?
