A Merger of Styles with Eberl

This next installment of a merger of artistic styles features German artist, Brigitte Eberl. See her website here, and another website to visit is the Brigitte Eberl Resin Gallery hosted by Sue Kern.

I was surprised when I looked through my records and saw how few sculptures by Brigitte I have actually painted. With as many sculptures of hers as I've collected, I would have thought there would be many more completed. I have a Mulinette and a Large Trakehner almost prepped, so maybe they'll get some color this summer...

A Merger of Styles with Chaney

I think I'll approach this alphabetically going forward, covering those sculptors that I've painted at least half a dozen or so of their pieces. This week's sculptor is Donna Chaney of Animal Artistry. Here is her website. Most of these were painted 6-8 years ago, and the pictures taken with a poor quality camera. Hope that doesn't discourage your viewing pleasure.

A Merger of Styles with Minkiewicz

I have a portfolio of finish work on my website organized by colors, but I've always thought it would be interesting to see them grouped together by sculpting artist. The model horse hobby creates an interesting merger of artistic styles that you don't often see in the fine art world. The compilation of a single piece that is sculpted by one artist and finished by another is a neat opportunity to merge artistic styles. I have had the privilege to paint many lovely sculptures by some fantastic artists over the years and will take the next several weeks to show my finish work by different sculpting artists. I find it might be an interesting way to see my progression as an artist over the years as well. Since I am knee deep in CPA studies and don't have time to create new work to share with you currently, I hope you'll find this a fun diversion. Hopefully my record keeping will be up to snuff and I won't leave any pieces out.

I am going to start with a very well known artist, who has served as a great artistic inspiration for me and has written many helpful articles over the years that helped to shape me as an artist: Sarah Minkiewicz-Breunig. See her website here and her blog here. Now on to the horses!

There are, of course, many more sculptural works that Sarah has created that I have not yet had the opportunity to paint. Hopefully some day!

More Historical Portraits

Commission for Private Collection
Customized Lusitano Resin by Brigitte Eberl

After the NAN donations, I was still wildly inspired by the artwork of Johann Georg von Hamilton, that a few more pieces have come to fruition. The Appaloosa above and Perlino below were both customized Eberl resins completed in 2008.

Customized Mescalero II Resin by Brigitte Eberl
This AA Rearing Andy by Donna Chaney is still unfinished in my cabinet. He is more of a semi-portrait, sporting the historic plaiting of the mane during the period. I think I may finish him in an Appaloosa pattern based off of a painting.

Johann
Customized Libretto Resin
Collection of the Artist
This is a lightly customized Libretto resin by Sarah Rose, again with a traditional braided mane with tassels. He is still a part of my personal collection and is dubbed, Johann, in honor of the painter.

Now this last painting is my inspiration for another leaping AA Andy, similar to Cerbero, who has yet to be started. How many years now has this project been on the back burner??? I guess going on four years now, judging that most of the other pieces here were done in 2008. Here's hoping it doesn't take another four!
